Our office focuses on three major areas within the world of vascular surgery

We have an ICAVL-certified vascular laboratory with two full-time Registered Vascular Technologist (RVTs). The laboratory routinely performs duplex ultrasound examinations of the cartoid arteries, abdominal aortic and upper and lower extremity arteries and veins, as well ass non-invasive arterial testing of the peripheral circulation. The laboratory is available for consultation during standard business hours in both Leominster and Concord.

The practice manages complicated issues involving compromise of the peripheral vascular system including peripheral arterial disease (PAD), cerebral vascular disease, aortoiliac and popliteal aneurysmal disease, and hemodialysis access. We manage complicated wounds both in our office and at hospital-managed wound centers located at Emerson Hospital in Concord and Henry Heywood Hospital in Gardner. Dr. Hoenig is medical director of the Emerson Hospital Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center.

Varicose veins are very common. They may be painful and can lead to complications such as phlebitis, bleeding, and ulcerations. Our goal is to develop strategies to treat these problems and minimize associated disability. We routinely perform ambulatory phlebectomy and saphenous vein ablation techniques in the office under light sedation. Our preference for ablation is using radiofrequency heat (VNUS ablation) but are also trained in Endo Venous Laser Therapy (EVLT).
